Celebrate National Allotment Week With Us

Posted on: 12 Aug 24

From Monday 12th through to Sunday 18th August 2024, we will be celebrating National Allotment Week and encouraging all our tenants to spend time in their gardens, be they private or shared, and have a go at growing their own vegetables and flowers.

Organised by the National Allotment Society Initiative, National Allotment Week is an annual event that has been running for over two decades now. This year’s theme is biodiversity, and there will be plenty of content during the week on ways to encourage pollinators and wildlife into your allotment.

Designed to encourage allotment holders to show off their sites and to highlight the many benefits of allotments, the week promises to be a lot of fun and very rewarding. Benefits of allotments include a boost to communities, your health and to the environment.

Nehemiah Wants Everyone To Get Involved

It’s important to come together this August to grow your own vegetables and flowers on an allotment – we have advice on finding local allotments, further down this page.

Many of our retirement schemes have gardens where tenants have been growing their own vegetables and flowers, including:

  • Henry Court in Dudley
  • Charles Pearson in West Bromwich
  • Woodside House in Birmingham

Dammy and her husband Mohan enjoy tending the communal garden and greenhouse, together with their neighbours Esmie and Marie from Henry Court retirement scheme. Read about what they have been up to in our latest newsletter .
