Let’s Celebrate National Careers Week

Posted on: 04 Mar 24

It is National Careers Week this week – 4th – 9th March.

What Is National Careers Week?

National Careers Week (NCW) is a week-long celebration of careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK.

Timed to happen at a key part of the academic year, National Careers Week is designed to provide a focus on careers guidance and activities to enable young people to make better decisions about their future.

Taking place every year, this week helps to support young people to understand their future career choices and to start to build an awareness and excitement about this.

What Happens During National Careers Week?

National Careers Week has at its core a virtual careers fair, which can be accessed here. There are lots of of opportunities for students to explore during the virtual careers fair.

National Careers Week provides CEIAG (careers, education, information, advice and guidance) resources to students that connect education with employers, helping students gain an insight into the workplace and further learning to support their decision-making.

As well as helping students, this week aims to help young people to understand the career options available for their future.

What Can Nehemiah Do To Help?

We encourage our tenants and their families to make the most of National Careers Week 2024, taking place between 4th and 9th March, by exploring all the available resources. It’s a fantastic opportunity to consider your career choices and gain an insight into the roles available.

There are so many exciting sectors and jobs out there, make the most of this week to investigate all your career options.

If you’ve ever considered a career in housing, it’s worth knowing that Nehemiah employs in the region of 27 staff and works hard to always attract and retain the best people. We pride ourselves on being an equal opportunities employer and value diversity and dignity at work.

Our team is friendly and supportive and the work is rewarding – if you’re interested in a career in housing, keep an eye on our Careers page as this is where we list our current job vacancies.

Furthermore, as part of our way of giving back to the community, we help our tenants to develop their careers through our Nehemiah Academy. The Academy provides work placements, graduate internships, and grants of up to £1,500 to help with the cost of studying.

Our latest trainee, Samuel who recently joined us as a Property Services Trainee says: “The reason I applied for the position at Nehemiah is because of the impact they are having on the communities. They are impacting the West Midlands in such a way by supporting those who are looking for homes, need new homes or just need support in everyday things.

“Nehemiah gives you the chance to learn at your own pace and motivates you to be better and that’s the reason I applied for this trainee position.

“What I love about my job is I get the best of both worlds – I get to see and speak to tenants and help them with anything that needs to be done around their home or advise them on what can be done. I feel like I am making a difference.

“I love the people at Nehemiah and that makes my job easier, no matter the workload.”
