Don't Miss Out On Pension Credit

You may have seen recently on the news and TV adverts about ensuring you are claiming Pension Credit.
Pension Credit can provide older people with extra financial support and boost their income. Research shows as many as 880,000 older people might not be claiming Pension Credit when they should be, which means they are missing out on approximately an extra £3,900 per year. Is that you?

Importantly, if you receive Pension Credit you will also be entitled to your Winter Fuel Payment. If you think you might be eligible and apply for Pension Credit by 21 December 2024 and also select to backdate the payment, you will also receive the Winter Fuel Payment.
We want to ensure our tenants, their family members, friends and neighbours know about claiming Pension Credit so please spread the word. Please encourage them to claim.

Send the claim form to the Pension Service, or ask someone to do it for you.

What Is Pension Credit?
Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you are over State Pension age and on a low income. Pension Credit can also help with housing costs such as ground rent or service charges.
Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension. You can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings or own your own home.
If you are entitled to Pension Credit you will also receive:
- a reduction in you council tax bill
- a free TV licence if you’re aged 75 or over
- help with your heating costs through the Warm Home Discount Scheme
- help with NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments, if you get a certain type of Pension Credit
- A discount on the Royal Mail redirection service if you are moving house
How Much Could I Get?
Pension Credit is worth, on average, £3,900 a year. You might get extra help if you’re a carer, severely disabled, or responsible for a child or young person.
