Nehemiah Housing Association is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Lusefa Salamon as its new Tenancy Services Officer.
Designed to build successful and sustainable communities, Nehemiah has over 1,100 properties serving the multicultural African Caribbean, Asian, Irish and European communities within the West Midlands. Lusefa’s role is at the heart of all the organisation does and aims to achieve.
“We are thrilled that Lusefa is our new Tenancy Services Officer as this is a key role within Nehemiah – she is essential for ensuring our communities are able to work in partnership now and into the future,” says Llewellyn Graham, Nehemiah Housing Association Chief Executive.
Among other tasks, Lusefa will be responsible for managing anti-social behaviour (ASB), handling safeguarding concerns with tenants and staff alike, and keeping policies up-to-date.
Lusefa comments: “The ultimate goal of my role is to achieve communities that work in partnership with each other.
“I’m so excited to have this position within Nehemiah as the organisation greatly appeals to me – at the core of what they do is the belief that everyone should feel comfortable in their own home. Nehemiah encourages neighbour interaction on every level and puts on events that enable you to get to know your neighbours and build relationships.
“A big part of what I do is managing anti-social behaviour complaints and investigating the situation to find a common ground. These incidents are handled through mediation or via referral to outside agencies or by asking the tenants to sign an ASB agreement with us to curb their behaviour.
“As well as this, I look after any safeguarding concerns tenants have by listening to them and referring them to outside agencies when needed. It’s also my job to maintain a safe environment for all our employees and contractors, and ensure our policies are both adhered to and kept up-to-date.”
“Lusefa has made a fantastic start as Tenancy Services Officer and we have no doubt that this will continue – we are proud of all our staff and what they achieve for our tenants and the wider communities, and Lusefa is no exception,” Llewellyn adds.
“Congratulations again on getting the job, Lusefa!”
With no previous experience within the housing sector, Lusefa has spent 10 years working as a prison custody officer at HMP Oakwood and has experience of managing difficult situations and resolving conflicts.
Lusefa adds: “As a prison custody officer, I dealt with a variety of issues, from safeguarding vulnerable adults and children to preventing self-harm and managing anti-social behaviour matters. I’m sure this experience will greatly help me in my new position which I’m already really enjoying.
“Everyone at Nehemiah is so friendly and helpful, and I’m so happy to be part of the team.”
