Anti-Slavery Day 2024
Posted on: 14 Oct 24
Anti-Slavery Day runs every year on 18 October and, once again in 2024, Nehemiah will be proudly supporting this initiative that aims to raise awareness of human trafficking and modern slavery.
What Is Anti-Slavery Day?
Created by the Anti-Slavery Day Act, a Private Members Bill, Anti-Slavery Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of how many people are trapped in conditions of modern slavery.
It is estimated that 49.6m people in the world right now, plus around 122,000 people in the UK, are living lives tarnished by human trafficking and modern slavery.
The day signals a time for governments, businesses, police forces and individuals to do all they can to prevent human trafficking and to protect victims of modern slavery.
Each year, more charities, local authorities, police forces and individuals, take action on Anti-Slavery Day and this can only be a force for good.
What Happens During Anti-Slavery Day?
This year, Hope for Justice will host a week-long series of events and campaigns, from 14-20 October, and will be encouraging individuals and businesses to join in.
Furthermore, they will run special activities for their Church Partners for Anti-Slavery Sunday on 20 October.
