Join In With The Great British Spring Clean
Posted on: 15 Mar 24
We are supporting this year’s Great British Spring Clean, taking place between 15th and 31st March.
It would be fantastic if as many tenants as possible joined in with this year’s campaign and became #LitterHeroes for us at Nehemiah and in our local communities.
What Is The Great British Spring Clean?
In its eighth year, the Great British Spring Clean is Keep Britain Tidy’s national clean-up campaign – the country’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign that sees people getting involved and helping to clean up their local areas.
In 2023, #LitterHeroes pledged to collect more than 400,000 bags of litter during the campaign period.
Stemming from a belief that everyone deserves to live in a community they can feel proud of, Great British Spring Clean is designed to achieve just that.
Whereas only 43% of UK adults agree they feel proud of their community at the moment, an incredible 85% of those volunteers who took part in last year’s campaign said it made them feel more pride in their local area – and 74% said it boosted their mood too.
What Happens During The Great British Spring Clean?
During the Great British Spring Clean, as many people as possible join in with litter picking in their local areas, becoming #LitterHeroes and making a real difference to the community they live in.
You can join in and help to pick litter in your local area.
To find out more about this campaign, visit Keep Britain Tidy.
To get involved on social media, use the hashtag #LitterHeroes and follow @KeepBritainTidy on the platform X (formerly Twitter).
What Can Nehemiah Do To Help?
At Nehemiah, we want every tenant to be happy, comfortable and proud of their home.
As a tenant, you are a member of our community and part of the supportive environment of our housing estates. Your voice matters and if you’re concerned about the levels of rubbish near your home, contact your Housing Officer to arrange for a litter picking session in the community.
We run estate walkabouts on a regular basis, and these are good opportunities to walk around your local area to see if there are any issues or problems that need to be tackled, such as any grounds repairs, fly tipping or litter problems. These are also perfect opportunities to chat to your Housing Officer about any other concerns you might have.
Letters will be sent out approximately 2-3 weeks before the date of the next estate walkabout – to join, simply meet at the location and time stated in the letter.
For further advice or information on the Great British Spring Clean and how you can get involved, you can contact your Housing Officer or call us on 0121 358 0966 or email contact@nehemiah.co.uk and we will be happy to help.
