We’re Supporting Dementia Action Week
Posted on: 13 May 24
We’re joining in and supporting this year’s Dementia Action Week, during the week of 13th and 19th May.
We wholeheartedly agree with this year’s message to ‘act on dementia’ and encourage all our tenants to act on any concerns they might have about their own memory loss or about memory loss impacting on the lives of loved ones.
This week-long campaign should reassure people that help and support for dementia is available – and that it’s important to speak to someone if you’re worried as it’s always best to take action.
If you’re worried about possible symptoms of dementia, you can speak to your GP as well as find help on Alzheimer’s Society’s website or by contacting your Housing Officer.
What Is Dementia Action Week?
Run by Alzheimer’s Society, this annual week-long campaign raises awareness of dementia and encourages people to act now to seek a diagnosis.
Dementia diagnosis is the theme for the 2024 campaign which aims to bring people together from across the UK and unite them with one purpose – to take action on dementia.
There will be a series of community-led events and activities across the country, as well as advice, information and support offered throughout the week.

What Can Nehemiah Do To Help?
At Nehemiah, our tenants are at the heart of everything we do. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe in their homes and to live in a supportive community.
We are committed to helping and always support tenants to take action on dementia – if you’re worried about memory loss or concerned a loved one has symptoms of dementia, the best thing to do is to act. Book a diagnosis and get the help you need.
As part of the support we can offer, we’re able to put tenants in touch with specialist organisations like Alzheimer’s Society for in-depth information and guidance on managing any dementia-related concerns.
As a guide, Alzheimer’s Society has advice available on:
- Understanding memory loss experiences and if related to dementia
- Information on dementia tests, and what to expect from a diagnosis
- What support is out there if you’re diagnosed with dementia
- A symptoms checklist that you can show to your GP
We understand how scary dementia can seem, which is why it’s vital there is greater awareness of the help and support that is available.
At Nehemiah, we will make the most of this year’s Dementia Action Week, between 13th and 19th May, to encourage individuals to act on dementia and seek the help they need. This way, we can work together to improve the lives of everyone living with dementia.
For further advice or information on Dementia Action Week and how you can get involved, or for support with any dementia-related worries you have, you can contact your Housing Officer or call us on 0121 358 0966 or email contact@nehemiah.co.uk and we will be happy to help.
