We’re Supporting Energy Savers Week

Posted on: 20 Jan 25

Nehemiah is delighted to be supporting this year’s Energy Savers Week, running between 20 and 26 January 2025.

Run by Citizens Advice Bureau in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust, Energy Savers Week is part of the year-long campaign that these two organisations are hosting in 2025 across England and Wales, to help people stay warm this winter and keep their energy bills lower.

The aim of the campaign by Citizens Advice Bureau and the Energy Saving Trust is to share information and advice to help people manage their energy bills and feel reassured that the Citizens Advice Bureau is here to support when needed.

Energy Savers Week 20 – 26 January 2025

The focus of this week is to share winter heating advice and tips, and help people find ways to cut their energy bills down this winter while staying warm.

The Citizens Advice Bureau will run workshops at local branches with energy advisers, and will also feature a wide range of guidance and support on its website.

If you’re struggling to pay your energy bills or to top up your prepayment meter, and want to find out what energy support is available, visit the Citizens Advice Bureau’s website.

Top tips for managing your energy bills, include:

  • If you’re behind with your energy bills
Contact your energy supplier to discuss possible payment plans and to agree a payment plan that is based on what you can afford. You can find more information, here.
  • If you can’t afford to top up your prepayment meter
Check with your local council, here, if you can get a fuel voucher. Your supplier might give you temporary credit if you’ve run out and can’t top up your prepayment meter, although you might need to ask for this. depending on your circumstances, you could ask to switch to paying by credit so you pay after using the energy. You can find more advice, here.
  • Extra support from your energy supplier
Depending on your situation, you might be able to get extra support from your energy supplier, such as making your call a priority when you contact them. Usually this is an option if you’re disabled or have a long-term health condition, but speak to your supplier if you think extra support would help you. To sign up for the priority service, visit the Priority Services Register’s (PSR) website.
  • Switching
You might want to switch energy supplier or change to a different tariff with your current supplier to save money on your energy bills. Consider which option is right for you – you can find more advice on this, here
