Posted on: 25 Jun 26

Nehemiah Housing Association was delighted to welcome Dudley MP Sonia Kumar to our Henry Court Retirement Scheme on Friday 19 June, where she met with residents, staff and members of the senior leadership team.

During the visit, Sonia was joined by Nehemiah’s Chief Executive Officer, Llewellyn Graham, and Director of Operations, Kevin Fearon, for a tour of the scheme and an opportunity to meet many of the residents who call Henry Court home.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for Sonia to introduce herself to residents, learn more about the retirement community at Henry Court and hear first-hand about the experiences and concerns of local people about the town of Dudley. Residents were keen to engage in an open and constructive discussion about issues affecting the local area, sharing their views on topics ranging from community services and neighbourhood improvements to wider matters impacting older people.

Sonia also spoke about her role as Member of Parliament for Dudley and outlined how she works to represent local residents both within the constituency and in Parliament. The visit enabled residents to ask questions and discuss matters that are important to them and their community. Sonia Kumar has served as the MP for Dudley since her election in July 2024.

Speaking about the visit, Nehemiah Housing Association Chief Executive Officer Llewellyn Graham said:

“We were pleased to welcome Sonia Kumar MP to Henry Court and provide an opportunity for her to meet our residents. Visits such as these are invaluable in helping local representatives understand the issues that matter most to older people and the communities they live in. Our residents appreciated the chance to share their views and engage directly with their MP.”

The visit highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between housing providers, elected representatives and local communities in ensuring that tenants’ voices are heard and that local issues continue to receive attention.

Llewellyn added “At Nehemiah Housing Association, we remain committed to creating thriving communities where tenants feel valued, supported and empowered to influence the decisions that affect their lives. We would like to thank Sonia Kumar MP for taking the time to visit Henry Court and for engaging so positively with our residents.

We look forward to continuing to work with local stakeholders to support our residents and strengthen the communities we serve.”
