Bringing Residents Together at Charles Pearson Court
Posted on: 12 Aug 26
For the past 10 years, Pauline has been bringing residents together at Charles Pearson Court every Tuesday from 11am to 2pm. The weekly group offers a welcoming space where residents can meet, talk, share experiences and support one another.
Residents contribute £2 each week, which helps provide refreshments, biscuits and every two weeks, a chicken and chips meal for everyone to enjoy together. The sessions have become an important opportunity for neighbours to connect, build friendships and strengthen the local community.
The group is also a useful place for residents to raise any concerns or issues, with support available where needed. Local police also visit from time to time to share updates about what is happening in the local area.
“I’ve lived in this area all my life and was a caretaker at the local junior school for 46 years. Before that I used to run youth clubs, as well as having five children of my own. I ran this club with others, but over the past 10 years some have left and now I enjoy spending my time here every Tuesday building a real community network.”
Friends of the Community continues to show the positive difference that regular resident-led activities can make, helping people feel connected, informed and supported.
