We’re Celebrating Black History Month 2026 This October!
Posted on: 01 Oct 26
Once again, we’re proud and happy to share the fact we will be fully supporting and celebrating this year’s Black History Month, which runs throughout October.
Will you join us this October to celebrate the incredible contributions and achievements of black people throughout British history and to society in general, and to help raise awareness of the huge impact of black heritage and culture?

We’d like as many of our tenants as possible to join us for this annual October-long event.
What Is Black History Month 2026?
Black History Month is an annual month-long celebration and reflection of the important and impressive achievements and contributions of black people in Britain and globally.
The theme for 2026 is Honouring Our Communities.
This year’s Black History Month is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the communities that shape and support us all, acknowledging that it is the people as much as the place itself that form a community. It’s about highlighting individuals whose contributions are part of everyday life but often go unseen and should be brought into the spotlight.
You can read about this year’s theme in greater detail, here.
Join Us For Black History Month This October?
Black History Month is celebrated in local communities, schools and workplaces across the UK – including at Nehemiah – and around the world.
First celebrated in the UK in 1987, this important month-long recognition and celebration of black heritage began in the US in the 1920s and today also takes place in Canada, Germany and Ireland. In the Netherlands, it’s known as Black Achievement Month.
We’re proud to say that all of us at Nehemiah will be celebrating throughout October. Will you join us?
By coming together, we not only support this important month and help to raise awareness and recognition, but we can support one another and our communities too.
